QEPAE was founded in 2009, with the website QEPAE.COM registered in 2011 and the trademark officially registered in 2012.

The name “QEPAE” is inspired by our founder Liu Zongqi刘宗琪—specifically, the character “Qi” (琪) from his given name. In Chinese pinyin, since the pronunciation of “I” closely resembles “E” in English, “QI” becomes “QE.”

The Chinese name 奇珀尔 (QEPAE) breaks down to: “奇特无比” (uniquely extraordinary), “珀般美丽” (as beautiful as amber), and “卓尔不凡” (exceptionally outstanding). It reflects our commitment to creating distinctive and original products.

Our founder Liu Zongqi was born in 1984 in Yingpan Town, Beihai City, China.

In 2000, he began working in a factory cutting leather gloves. Passionate about learning, he mastered every stage of glove production and consistently held the highest performance-based pay in the factory. In his spare time, he studied painting, computer skills, and management.

In 2005, he was in charge of product development and sewing trainer simultaneously.

By 2006, he became a designer, and in 2008 he also served as an internal auditor for ISO9000 Quality Management System, ISO14000 Environmental Management System, and SA8000 Social Responsibility Management System with SGS.

In 2009, as China’s outdoor and extreme sports market began to rise, Liu Zongqi started designing and developing sports gloves from the first floor of his home. Thanks to their cutting-edge designs and advanced materials, the gloves quickly gained popularity. As demand outgrew the home-based setup, he officially established a factory in 2011.

Today, QEPAE has distributors in major cities across China, as well as in Europe, North and South America, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

Liu Zongqi is also a passionate outdoor sports enthusiast, actively participating in cycling, marathons, mountaineering, and skiing every year.
